This is a video I produced for Haworth. It's for our Change Management department. Obviously it's a spoof on Mentos. There was a whole presentation about change not being as easy as popping a breath mint. I also laid down the hot track for the video.

The Madden Challenge is over. Although I did well, I suffered a controversial loss in the semi-finals (rookie division). It went down like this:

Ravens vs. Patriots (Yours truly manning the Pats) With seconds left in the game, the score tied at seven all, I missed a 52yd field goal to send us into overtime. Little did we know, this would be the first of four overtimes played.

Defenses prevailed as each of us punted the ball over and over again. It was a grueling effort as we both stopped each other from gaining enough yards to at least put the ball through the uprights for a field goal. Relentless defense would pay off as late in our fourth OT, I intercepted the ball and ran it back to the Ravens twenty. I could kick the ball from here, but felt that I needed to pound the ball in a bit closer to ensure the win. I ran the ball two more times to put me on the fourteen yard line, setting me up for a twenty nine yard field goal for the win. Third down, between both hash marks, I setup for the kick.

WEEKOO! WEEKOO! WEEKOO!

The fourteen year old turd sandwich begins a tactic called "toggling". Pressing the "L" button on the controller, the camera will zoom out to a full field view. Let go and the camera goes back in. Over and over, as fast as he can, he toggles the screen. I didn't know what to do. This tactic is without a doubt cheating in a sanctioned tournament. It's in the rules. There aren't a lot of rules but that's one of them. I look to the side for the referee. He's not there. I consider telling him to stop, but I don't. I wuss out. I bite the bullet and kick the ball......wide right. WHAT??? NO!!!?!?!?!?!

I see the ref come over.

"Hey...This guy was screwing with the camera on my 29 yard field goal to win the game," I clammered.

The ref looks at the slightly ratty looking boy, "Did you do that?"

Rat boy, "Yes."

The ref replies, "Well you aren't supposed to...No toggling."

Rat boy, "I didn't know."

"Well don't do it again."

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?! That's it???? Don't DO IT AGAIN???? NO!!!!!

That's it. Now I'm upset. I buckle down and force him to punt.

(Okay...another chance. I can do it. Here comes the ball.)

***FUMBLE***

Tim Dwight gets nailed after he catches the ball, and fumbles the ball. Ratboy picks it up and runs it in for a touchdown. Game over.

Let me tell you, I was depressed. This was the semi finals. I could smell the leather of the Madden Finals couch. I could see the clarity of the high resolution picture emitted by the Madden Finals widescreen LCD. I could see it all...standing on the sidelines. So close. So...so...close.

What up Dan-DeHaan-a-philes? (Enthusiasts of the Dan DeHaan...I know yer out there...somewhere. Longingly reading this blog.) Guess what yer "freak for hire" just did! Registered to compete in the annual Madden Challenge. Yeah...You remember. The video game tournament sponsored by the creators of the only 2006 NFL videogame game on the market, Madden Oh-six. I'm so foolish. (Hmm...Why do I get the feeling I'm talking to myself? Oh yeah. Because no one is actually reading my blog.) But HEY! That's just the way I roll.

A couple incidents have recently occurred that got me thinking about death and funerals. After some consideration, I've decided that I only have one request regarding my funeral. Everyone attending must wear a t-shirt that says: Dan DeHaan just died and all I got was this crummy t-shirt. I'm completely serious. (and sober) White t-shirts with bold, black, futura font typeface all in caps. I will haunt all of you if my request goes unfulfilled. I'll haunt you with rancid phantom smells. Appalling smells. Stinky smells....so you better do it.

Nigerians are starving and my family is hosting giant burrito eating contests!!! Oh America. You so crazy!!! Today, my nephew Dillon was challenged to eat a burrito dubbed "Don't Even Think About It" from a restaurant in Kalamazoo, MI called "The Big Burrito". "The Behemoth" as I affectionately call it, measures nearly 30 inches long and is filled with burrito goodness that only genuine Mexicans could create. (Those Mexicans are mad scientists!!!) To make a short story even shorter, he couldn't finish it. 17 inches was all he could devour. I too ingested 17 inches of burrito delight. The size I ordered was aptly named, "The Big Burrito".

I've got a beef with fortune cookies. They just aren't fortunes anymore. What kind of fortune is "You are deeply attached to your family and home,"??? Not only is that gross, but it's not a fortune--it's an observation. How can I become emotionally invested in my fortune when it reads, "You are truly admired." Gee thanks. I'm glad you noticed, fortune cookie.

What happened to the good ol' days when fortune cookies made wild, reckless predictions about what may happen to me the moment I leave the chinese restaurant??
"You will find a treasure chest filled with gold under your bed next Tuesday." Now that's a fortune. Think about how good your cookie will taste after reading a fortune like that?? Uh...try sticky sweet? And who cares if it doesn't come true!?!? I'm still going to be filled with anticipation the rest of the week, and quite possibly dissapointment. But I'm fine with that. At least I won't be lulled into a coma after reading "You have firm convictions, stand strong behind them." Gimme the gold cookie, gimme' the gold.

I became aware of one of my strange habits today. While relieving myself in the restroom, if there is a magazine with a human being on the cover, I feel compelled to flip it over. I cannot stand them watching me...relieve myself. Relieving away as Julia Roberts or Colin Ferril stares at me, isn't my idea of privacy. Relieve!!!!! MYSELF!!!! M-Y-S-E-L-F!!!! With no magazine spies watching me. I'm not sure this blog was a good idea.

Yay! Danny D and his lady companion bought a pair of "rollerblades" today. We both selected the K2 EXO 6.0 as our skate of choice. (I couldn't decide between the EXO and a leather pair of ROLLERskates!!! Remember? 2X2 wheels? Birthday parties? Rinks? Bob Segar?)

I picked up season 3 and a half of Ren & Stimpy on the DVD. Man...that cartoon was so...stinky good. I watched a couple before I ventured on into work. Poor Stimpy realized he wasn't wearing pants. Me TOO!!!! AHHH!!!!!

Euchetey-Duke! I've been playing alot of Eucher lately. Apparently it's very "Michigander-ish" to play this particular card game. My nephews and niece are getting older and have recently learned the game, providing me 3 players ready to "get yer trump on" at any given moment. Sure, Yahoo! provides online games 24/7 but there's nothing like yelling "Euchetey-DUKE!" and seeing the look on your opponent's face as you "set" their team on the last trick.

In other, even less constructive news, Xbox LIVE is also pulling me away from many of my responsibilities. HALO2 in particular. 'Rumblepit' to be precise.

Got heavy usage out of our new Vonage phone system today. Good product.....so far.
